Many new residents of Cabe\u00f1os face this question when they arrive to live. And we know that Mexico, unlike other countries, does not consistently purify its water in all cities so that it can be consumed anywhere, at any time. However, according to QFB Blanca Tapia, NSPF (National Swimming Pool Foundation) inspector and laboratory head at Aqualab, there are some details that differentiate Los Cabos from other cities in Mexico:<\/p>\n
1.- Los Cabos has a sea and desert ecosystem, so the water has a particular composition that allows it to have minerals in adequate quantities for human consumption.<\/p>\n
2.- To say that water is drinkable, it must comply with both the microbiological and physicochemical aspects. The latter corresponds to the minerals and compounds that can give water certain properties such as flavor, color, turbidity, scale, or corrosiveness. This physicochemical component is generally considered to be of good quality for human use in most wells in Los Cabos.<\/p>\n
3.- The microbiological part is the one that may not comply with the permissible limits according to the Mexican Official Standard and this may be due to the origin of the water or its handling and storage, even on the same property, so it is important to be aware of this and make sure you have disinfection equipment or a program (destruction of microorganisms).<\/p>\n
In conclusion, the water in Los Cabos may not be 100% potable, but it is of better quality than that of other cities in the country and can be used without problems for other domestic purposes, such as bathing, laundry, washing and cooking food, etc.<\/p>\n
According to QFB Blanca Tapia, the water at the site is of good physical and chemical quality, and it is only necessary to ensure that a disinfection process is carried out in order to be able to use the water for both human consumption and use.<\/p>\n
